Sandymount Dublin Night Run 5k & 10k - October 22nd

The Sandymount Dublin Night Run 5k & 10k returns on October . This unique Night Run events take place during the week at 7:20pm, making it a great opportunity to get out and clear the head with a midweek run! Sandymount is an ideal location being walking distance from the center of Dublin. And the course is laid out in long straight flat lines making it ‘racer’ friendly. There are two distances to suit all levels of fitness. A 5km single lap or a 10km double lap. Entries are limited so don’t leave it too late to enter! This is an annual SELL OUT race. Tell your friends. There will be a Finisher’s Medal to meet you at the finish line along with that sense of satisfaction. Ideal midweek run before the winter months!

Start is located at the edge of Sean Moore Park and the beach.

Parking in the area is limited so we suggest you carpool, take public transport, cycle or walk to the event. There are 3 car parks along the seafront in Sandymount, but they can be busy. Bus routes #1 & #47 service the area, get out at Irishtown Rd, Bath Street. There is no event parking at Clanna Gael GAA club

Located at the start/ finish area. Take note it will not be covered. So if you need to, bring a plastic bag to keep it dry (should it rain). It will be supervised however please note we cannot accept any responsibility for lost or stolen items. Use the bag drop at your own risk. It will open at 6.15pm. Please note you will need a bag so we can put our number tag on it. No individual keys, phones or wallets can be accepted.

Toilets will be located at the start/finish area. Please ensure to use these prior to the event as there will be no toilets along the route of the race.

The race will have separate start times for each distance, with the 5KM starting first at 19:20hrs, followed by the 10KM starting at 19:30hrs. Each distance will have 3 waves. 

The 5KM waves are as follows:

Wave 1 –  Complete the 5km in under 25 minutes.

Wave 2 – Complete the 5km in under 25 – 30 minutes.

Wave 3  Complete the 5km in 30 – 40 minutes.

The 10KM waves are as follows:

 Wave 1 – complete the 10KM in under 50 minutes.

Wave 2 – complete the 10KM in 50 – 60 minutes.

 Wave 3 – complete the 10KM in 55 – 60 minutes.

Find the sign for the Wave that reflects your predicted finish time. Decide now what wave you will be in and stick to it. Each wave will go 30 seconds apart, so be ready.

Note: there is no disadvantage to starting in the 2nd or 3rd Wave. Your number is chipped and your chip time starts once you cross the Start line.

Entry to this event includes Race Number Postage for all entries before 1st October.  Please ensure you supply a complete and correct address when registering online.  Race Numbers not received due to incorrect address details cannot be replaced.  

Entries received after 1st October will collect on race day.  

The start line is at the corner of Sean Moore Park and the beach.

Start: by going clockwise around Sean Moore Park, then onto the beach and continue up the sand until the turn cone. BE AWARE OF ONCOMING RUNNERS ON BEACH SECTION. You will turn then up a slip onto the promenade, run the length of the promenade, back onto the beach and then into the park towards the start/finish area. 1 loop is 5km, 2 loops will complete 10km.

Finish: The finish gantry will be just off the path. 5km do one loop and finish under the gantry. 10km stick to the path and do another loop, then finish under the gantry. There will be signage and marshals on the course to direct you. There will be a lead bike ahead of Wave 1 to act as a guide.

Water Station: The water station will be available at 5.5km (available only to 10km participants). Water cups are not to be taken beyond park boundary, i.e. no cups to be taken onto the sand or further. There will be two large bins in the park to drop them on route. Your cooperation is much appreciated.

Finish Area: You will receive water, a banana and a bar at the finish line. Finishers with a valid race number displayed can collect a medal at the exit of the finish pen. Please try to move through the finish pen as quickly as possible to allow room for finishers behind you.
